Here's the latest at Moon Tool & Die Co.

December 2018

Moon Tool & Die Co. was purchased by Jeglinski Group, Inc. This will have only positive impact on our customers and employees and will bring forth many new exciting possibilities as we venture into the new year. We wish Jim and Leslie Moon a very happy retirement.

November 2017

Moon Tool is ordering a new MATSUURA MX-520 5 Axis Machining Center. This will allow us to machine complex shapes in a single set-up and will enable us to use shorter cutting tools since the head can be lowered towards the job and the cutter oriented towards the surface.

January 2017

Moon Tool passed its ISO 9001:2008 Renewal Audit and the transition to the new ISO 9001:2015 standards (with no NCs and only 3 OFIs). We will soon be flying a new banner to celebrate and commemorate the occasion.

December 2016

Moon Tool made some changes in equipment this year. We moved out a couple of units that were underutilized and replaced them with machines that better fit our needs at this time. Strange as it may sound, we were actually short on smaller “manual” equipment; so our acquisitions were a TRAK Mill, a TRAK Lathe, and a programmable Surface Grinder.
Through a somewhat “trying” economy, we were able to pick up twelve new customers this year. We are grateful for the opportunities they offered, and continue to offer. We value their business and look forward to lasting relationships with each one of them.

January 2015

Moon Tool & Die takes delivery on a Kitamura HX400 Horizontal Milling Machine.
50 Tools, two pallets, auto changing, high speed machining.
We've been anticipating this step for a long time.

March 17, 2014: MOON TOOL BECOMES ISO 9001:2008 REGISTERED

Moon Tool is very excited about becoming ISO 9001:2008 registered. This feat is the culmination of a lot of hard work by dedicated people. We appreciate our consultants for their support, guidance, and encouragement they gave along the way.
This too marks the beginning of a commitment to our customers and to ourselves to provide the best possible service to our customers.

Moon Tool & Die Company is growing again by “going small”.

We took delivery in January of 2013 of a Makino E33 High speed mill. This machine has great accuracy with feedback from glass scales and boasts a spindle speed of 40,000 RPM. For hard milling and electrode manufacture this enables us to use cutters as small as .005ӯ.

We also offer small hole drilling with our Makino FH machine. This can use tubes down to .006ӯ yielding holes under .007ӯ. (in certain conditions).

Moon Tool continues to offer all of the other conventional machinery and operations for tool and die making, plastic injection molds, dies, jigs, fixtures, and spare parts, including EDM, Wire EDM, Surface Grinding, CNC Milling, CNC Turning, and mold repairs. Our work is closely checked using state of the art DNC Coordinate Measuring machines in our environmentally controlled inspection room.

Our inclusion of Laser Welding capabilities and close proximity to heat treat and plating facilities makes Moon Tool a logical choice for mold or mold component repair for the plastic injection mold industry.

Our fabrication, welding department, and production turning and milling capabilities rounds out Moon Tool as an excellent venue for prototype through production type projects.

We look forward to serving your needs.

Top Stories

  • New CNC Small Hole Machine and Makino DUO43 Wire EDM
These two machines are another step in setting Moon Tool apart from the competition. We no longer have to rely on outside sources to create our small start holes for the Wire EDM.  The New Wire EDM also brings us the latest in Wire EDM technology and expands our capacity to turn projects around quicker.
  • Global 7-10-7 CMM Arrives
Our new Coordinate Measuring Machine arrived and is set up ready for use. We now have scanning ability too.
  • Building Expansion Completed
Jeemco's Crew worked diligently despite the long wet Spring and completed construction on time and on budget. We are very pleased with the work they did. It didn't take long to move into the space and absorb it into the normal use to store and stage parts for the machining, assembling, and welding processes.
  • Moore #3 Jig Grinder Acquired
Even with all of the technology that is out there, there is sometimes no substitute for the feel of a quality machine at the hand of an experienced operator. This addition to our arsenal of equipment will aid in jobs that require precision ground holes as well as those odd instances we get into doing mold repairs.
  • Building Expansion
After doubling the building size from our Conneaut Lake facility we find that in just under three years we need more space. So a 6,000 square foot addition is being erected in the Spring of 2011. We chose Jeemco Construction for this project. We are very impressed with their professionalism and ethics.
